    BREAKING NEWS

    ALI ASIF ARZARI ELECTED PRESIDENT

Assasinated former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's widow, Ali Asif Arzari has just been electe the country's next Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He will succeed Pervez Musharaf, who resigned office amidst trailing political blunders and a united opposition fron against the man who 'ran away' from a surging vote of no confidence against him. And again the powerful Bhutto name takes centre stage in the ever volatile Pakistani political landscape. Even former Prime Minister Sharrif Nawaz's attempt at bogging down Arzari's ascend to the top office didnt nothing at stopping this man who, arranged marriage to Asif Zardari in 1987 surprised many people. Their marriage endured separation due to Asif's imprisonment and separation due to Benazir's politics. Their marriage ended when Benazir was assassinated on December 27, 2007. In Pakistan, there is more respect given to married women than to single women. Additionally, a single woman would not be allowed to be head of state. This reality helped Benazir make the decision to agree to an arranged marriage. After their arranged marriage was announced on July 29, 1987, Asif sent Benazir roses every day and gave her a heartshaped ring of diamonds and sapphires. Benazir had met Asif five days before the public announcement of their planned winter wedding. On December 8, 1987, at the Clifton Palace garden in Karachi, Pakistan, Benazir and Asif had an almost traditional Pakistani wedding. Concerned about how some of the Pakistani wedding traditions were extravagant and difficult for poor families, Benazir broke with tradition by trying to keep their wedding simple. She eliminated the dowry, had only two shalwar kameez instead of the traditional nearly 51 dresses and wore only one layer of jewelry. Benazir wore a white silk tunic with gold-embroidery. Asif wore a turban and a cream-colored tunic. Bhutto / Zardari Wedding Photo Asif and Benazir and their families had several days of celebration. The couple said "yes" three times, and at their wedding ceremony Benazir and Asif looked into a mirror together so they could see themselves as a married couple for the first time. Sugar was ground over their heads so their lives would be sweet. Although their wedding ceremony was small and private, in the streets after their wedding there were 100,000 political supporters dancing, singing, firing guns in the air, and enjoying fireworks. Asif and Benazir have a son and two daughters. On love and marriage, Benazir was once quoted as saying, 'I was always told by my elders that love comes after a marriage. In an arranged marriage, there is a mental commitment. You know that you are marrying somebody and he is going to be a part of your life forever. It's a very strange kind of mental journey, which I have not read about or heard about, but feel my own self experiencing."And on keeping her own name, she quipped," Benazir Bhutto doesn't cease to exist the moment she marries; She's the same person. I am keeping my own name."
  • Muamar Gaddafi is BACK!!!!

Posted: September 6, 2008, 1:53 pm by the godfather
Gaddafi turns foes into friends .....THE RETURN OF MUAMMAR GADDAFI
Don't just dismiss Muamar Gaddafi just yet folks! As much as you want to rubbish this so called terrorist, the man just has style. And it seems he has an agenda for himself and his country for the long term.
For a better part of my life, I have come to be taught that Libya was the birth place of terrorism, long before Osama became branded the father of terrorism. Libya had been there and done their terrorist thing long before Osama. Kenya under Moi, kicked them out during the early 80's. America bombed them and killed them and abused them. Sanctions we imposed left right and centre, a situation that nearly brought Tripoli to a halt.
Then suddenly we start hearing how is making bosom buddies with East African leaders. He one day jets into Uganda one fine 2007 day to officially inaugurate a mosque (in a christian dominated country) in honor of him. And in what raises eyebrows, Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki is one of the invited guests at the opening ceremony of the mosque.
We are later to be told that Gaddafi had lent Kibaki money to bail him out of a gruelling election and in return, Kibaki would allow Libya privileged business dealing status for its businessmen in Kenya. And until recently in Kenya when secret details of the selling of the multi million dollar 5 star Grand Regency Hotel gem to the Libyan emerged, than did Gaddafi's name pop up. The deal smacked economic and political mischief, that caused severe ripples in Kenya climaxing with that country Parliament passing a vote of no confidence in the Minister for Finance, Hon. Amos Kimunya, and Kibaki blue-eyed boy, who later that week disgracefully resigned!
Other reports disclose Gaddafi's interests in expanding Libyan businesses in the petroleum, mining, tourism and hotels all over the African continent.
Then the shocker! Gaddafi playing host to Condolezza Rice in Tripoli after 55 years of bad blood between these two. And when Rice land in Tripoli, she is met at the airport, NOT Gaddafi himself, NOR Libya's Foreign Affairs Minister, NOR the Deputy Minister for Foreign affairs by a junior staffer at the Foreign Ministry, a Director for American Affairs in the Libyan Foreign Office....
Gaddafi, is back, people, and we are in for more political, antics. This man is squeezing the b***s of once touted big boys and they are grovelling and drooling to kiss is a**e!

Condy Rice drops in on Libra with Roses.....
    From Terrorist to Darling??????

These Americans just never cease to amaze me! 55 years of branding Muamar Gaddafi's Tripoli as Terrorists and calling Gaddafi himself 'a mad dog", Condolezza Rice, whose job we all know so well, yesterday drops in to visit, cuddle and kiss, and buy some barbie dolls to a former terrorist! How sick....
Condy Rice, President Bush's pet was yesterday dispatched to Tripoli Libya with all the sweetest words you would imagine. Condy was quoted on CNN as saying, something that went like "... just touching down on the Tripoli soil just brought the nicest feeling and it just struck me how 55 years was such a long time...." !!!!!!!!!!!! Oh My God......
America, that land of democracy (or is it DemoCRAZY) just doesn't wake up one fine morning and start cuddling former bitter rivals just like that.....I put it to you, confidently, that America is up to some mischief, and sadly, John McCain, if he manages to win the biggest prize on the planet, will be the final and biggest beneficiary. I stand to be corrected!
Psssst, psssssst.....Don't be surprised to see a CRAZY headline that reads like this: US BACKS OSAMA FOR AFGHANISTAN PRESIDENCY.....

Miracle Number 1: Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi (R) meets with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (L) in Tripoli. Rice was on a landmark visit to Tripoli heralding a new chapter in Washington's reconciliation with the former enemy state

Libyan Director of the Department of American Affairs at the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed al-Fitori (R), welcomes US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice upon her arrival in Tripoli.

Libya's Foreign Minister Abd al-Rahman Shalgham meets with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (L) in Tripoli yesterday. Rice went on to say that this proved that Washington had no permanent enemies

    Political Battle lines being drawn

Acting President Banda Rupiah hot Favorite, as MMD Party bigwigs rally behind him

Even before the dust has been wiped off Zambian mourners' feet to the early week State Funeral for the late Zambian President Dr. Levy Mwanawasa, political battle lines are already being drawn as different political forces begun political strategy for the forthcoming Presidential Election slated in less then 90 days to come.

Reports coming out of Zambia say 20 ruling Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) founder members from across the country led by two veteran politicians Vernon Mwaanga and Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika have urged the party’s national executive committee (NEC) to endorse acting President Rupiah Banda as party presidential candidate today as prominent Lusaka lawyer and politician Rodger Chongwe threw his weight behind Mr Banda. Mr Mwaanga suggested that the NEC should elect Mr Banda because he was the only mature candidate among all MMD aspirants and would accomplish Dr Mwanawasa’s vision.

Mr Mwanga, a former Information and Broadcasting minister described Banda as gallant and visionary and stated that the acting president was a unifying factor who without doubt could ensure continued economic growth as he understood and worked closely with Dr Mwanawasa.

Notable MMD founder at a Lusaka conference included former vice-president Christon Tembo, former ambassador to Botswana Milton Phiri, Mbita Chitala, Vera Chiluba, Joe Mwale, Wendy Sinkala and Rosemary Kanyenga.

And while shoring up the acting Presidents CV, Mwanga went on to laud Banda's success in managing to scoop 16 parliamentary seats in Eastern Province because of his 'tireless campaigns for the party.'
Gen Tembo said two weeks before President Mwanawasa left for the summit in Egypt, he (Mwanawasa) spoke with him concerning MMD party issues and its way forward, but he did not disclose he had anointed anyone. Mr Lewanika called on MMD members to give maximum support to Mr Banda saying the man had a great vision for the country considering his rich historical background in running national affairs.

And as the race for the vacant top political office in the land of copper hots up, behind the scenes political maneuvering and horse trading seems to have been triggered in earnest. Former Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) chairperson Willa Mung’omba has withdrawn from the MMD race for the presidential race and opted to throw his weight behind Mr Banda. Mr Mung’omba said he decided to withdraw from the race so as to promote unity in the party and urged his supporters and others to throw their weight behind Mr Banda.

MAMA IDA ODINGA STEALS THE LIME LIGHT FROM FIRST LADY LUCY KIBAKI?

The enigmatic and powerful Mama Ida Odinga, Kenya's Prime Ministers wife has once again shown her magnificence and reminded Kenyans what a superb First Lady she would have been.
In turning down a shs. 400,000 per month pay offer by the Kenyan goverment to 'compensate' her services of taking care of the Rt. Hon. Husband, Mrs. Odinga has stolen the hearts of Kenyans aas she yet again sets the example of how women should stand by their husbands no matter what.

"The Government of Kenya has taken cognizance of the critical role that you play as spouse of the Rt Hon Prime Minister Mr Raila Odinga in projecting a positive image of our nation’s family values.

"In addition, the Government recognises your wise counsel and guidance which contribute to the public good in the course of nation building activities, besides playing hostess during national and other official public engagements.

"In view of the above, and in order to compensate for the above services," the letter said, the State had approved a monthly payment for her of Sh400,000 and allowances when she travels "within and outside the country on official engagements".

Ida said: "The legacy I have built is not worth Sh400,000. I thank Mr Muthaura for appreciating that there is a heavy responsibility that comes by virtue of my position. But I will not take the money.

"I have seen people writing that I should take care of Raila on my own. Surely, Kenyans know I always do that. Kenyans know I have taken care of my husband in good and bad times without help from the State, sometimes in spite of the State. I will continue doing that," she said.

She went on: "I attend at least three functions a day, each of them public functions. I will continue doing that. I host people in the name of the Republic of Kenya.

"People come from abroad, convinced that the practice here is similar to that of their countries. I host them in my house, my private office or in hotels, on behalf of the Republic of Kenya. That is why I thank Mr Muthaura for showing some understanding."

A+ Mama Odinga!! I hope Mama Kibaki's handlers will have her Standard on her desk this morning!

  • Is John McCain an Israeli Apologist?

Posted: September 3, 2008, 5:52 am by the godfather

MCCAIN'S PROMISE TO NUKE IRAN AND KEEP SYRIA IN CHECK?

It is alleged that if Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain wins the presidency of the United States, that is finished forever! In March of this year, John McCain traveled to Israel where it is alleged he shamelessly pandered to Prime Minister Olmert, the Likudnik extremist Benjamin Netanyahu, and other Zionist Masonic overlords and groveled at their feet. McCain also had a stopover in neighboring, war-torn Iraq, where he was led around Jewish Senator Joe Lieberman. Senator Joseph Lieberman had earlier on in the tour escorted McCain to the wailing wall in Jerusalem. McCain then flew from the Middle East to London where, on March 20th, met super-wealthy Rothschild Illuminati brothers, Lord Jacob Rothschild and Nathaniel Rothschild. He was hosted to an "invitation-only" private luncheon at the luxurious Spencer House, St. James Place. Reports say that McCain promised the powerful Rothschild's that we they to support his bid for the Presidency, Israel's enemies, Iran and Syria, would end up nuclear toast! WoW!!! Nathanael Kapner, a knowledgeable Jew writes in his website Real Jew News, "John McCain knows which side his bread is buttered on. And that's the Jewish side of campaign contributions." Brother Kapner noted that McCain was at the private Rothschild fund-raiser in the posh London Spencer house. Kapner's sage conclusion: "John McCain is bought by Jews via the Rothschilds!" Kapner also reported that McCain recently was forced to apologize to the Jews for having the audacity to say in a speech he had given that, "America is a nation founded on Christian values." Immediately, the Jewish organizations sprang into action, prompting the frightened McCain to trot out before the news cameras and retract what he had said. Well, well, well....

    FIRST LADIES IN WAITING

    MICHELLE OBAMA AND CINDY MCCAIN

Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain share a dislike of rough-edged U.S. politics. Each tried to talk her spouse out of running for the White House.
Obama, wife of Democratic candidate Barack Obama, and McCain, who is married to Republican John McCain, are both known for an elegant sense of style, lending glamour to their husbands' campaigns. McCain posed in size zero jeans for the latest issue of Vogue. Obama, who has also appeared in the fashion magazine, was praised by style writers for the violet sheath dress she wore to her husband's Democratic nomination victory rally and has been compared to former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy. But the aspiring first ladies have plenty of differences. Obama, 44, is a Princeton- and Harvard-educated lawyer raised by blue-collar parents on the working-class South Side of Chicago. She would be the first African American U.S. first lady. Obama talks often on the campaign trail about being a working mother. Until recently, she juggled a job as a hospital executive with raising two young daughters and lending support to her 46-year-old husband's political aspirations. The strong-minded Obama exudes confidence and is an accomplished public speaker. But her penchant for outspokenness has also drawn some criticism.McCain, 54, the Arizona senator's second wife, is reserved and seems far less comfortable in the limelight when she campaigns with her husband, who is 18 years her senior. The blond, blue-eyed McCain is a former rodeo queen and cheerleader who holds a master's degree in special education from the University of Southern California. She grew up in a wealthy family in Phoenix and is heiress to Hensley & Co, one of the largest U.S. distributors for brewing giant Anheuser-Busch.Last month, she released a tax return showing she made about $6 million (3 million pounds) in 2006.McCain has raised four children, including a daughter Bridget, 16, whom she adopted from Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh. McCain has travelled the globe as part of her charitable work.McCain's deferential manner puts her in the company of more traditional first ladies such as Nancy Reagan and Laura Bush."She is more in the classic mould of the candidate's wife on the campaign trail," said Calvin Jillson, a political scientist at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He said McCain has her own version of the "Nancy Reagan stare," the adoring gaze that the former first lady perfected."If you look at Michelle Obama, it appears that throughout their married life, she and her husband have been very much equals," Jillson said. Her image as an equal partner was on display with the celebratory fist-bump the Obama's shared on the night he clinched the nomination last week.America has had non-traditional first ladies before. They included Rosalynn Carter, wife of Jimmy Carter who sat in on Cabinet meetings, and Hillary Clinton, who was named by her husband to lead a health-care task force.Obama met her husband through her work as a corporate lawyer and is his closest adviser, although associates have described her role as less of a policy-oriented one than that of a confidante who provides a reality check. She has acquired an image as a tough-minded task-master.In a favourite line on the campaign trail, the Illinois senator says his wife often reminds him that he's "not a perfect man."When asked about his flaws during one campaign stop, Obama advised the questioner to "talk to my wife.""She will have a pretty long list," he said, starting with his failure to hang up his clothes properly. But some pundits have put some of Obama's criticism of her husband -- that he snores and leaves socks on the floor -- in the category of "too much information."In one comment seized upon by conservative Internet bloggers, Michelle Obama remarked, "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country."That led critics to accuse her of being unpatriotic, saying that her comment made it appear she had not been proud of her country before her husband ran for president.A day later, Cindy McCain told a campaign rally, "I am proud of my country. I don't know about you, if you heard those words earlier -- I am very proud of my country."But she too has drawn criticism. When she refused to release her tax returns critics said her lack of transparency was at odds with her husband's message of openness in government. McCain eventually relented. She has also talked openly about her addiction in the early 1990s to painkillers, originally prescribed for back pain, which she at first kept secret from her husband and family. McCain has also made a full recovery from a stroke that nearly killed her four years ago. Both women serve a crucial role of giving emotional support to their spouses amid the gruelling slog of the campaign. Barack Obama's mood brightens visibly when his wife joins him on the campaign trail. McCain has a similar effect on her husband.
  • What they think about Sarah Palin!

Posted: September 2, 2008, 8:45 pm by the godfather
The Amount of Sarah Palin coverage and commentary out there is unreal. It's everywhere, from every direction, in all forms. Here's a taste, according to David Hule, an Alaska Daily News reporter in Sarah Palins hometown of Wasilla.

    > What McCain didn't know about Sarah Palin (Atlantic.com)

This year, the intense secrecy with which McCain advisor A.B. Culvahouse completed his vetting of Sarah Palin preserved the surprise. And ultimately, McCain aides say they're sure that the rewards will be worth the risks. But as the Palin pick turns 72 hours old, McCain's campaign is learning as much about her from the media and from Democrats as they are from what minimal political preparation they had.

    > Palin electrifies conservative base (Politco.com)

The media elite — as well as elite members of the GOP consulting community — have all but mocked Palin as a former small-town mayor with zero Washington experience. But that view of her totally misses the cultural resonance she carries to crucial Republican power centers and could not be more at odds with the jubilation felt among true believers that one of their own is on the ticket.

    > Northern Underexposure (E.J. Dionne Jr. column, Washington Post)

McCain, as far as anyone can tell, met Palin only once before considering her for vice president, and once more before settling on her, which is to say he barely knows her. For the purpose of courting disaffected Hillary Clinton voters and satisfying the social conservatives, McCain is willing to place someone he knows mostly from press clippings and, okay, what his staff insists was thorough vetting, in the direct line of succession to the presidency. There is a breathtaking recklessness about this choice.

    > Sarah Palin: The making of a candidate (Los Angeles Times)

"The landscape up here is littered with people who have underestimated her," said Eric Croft, a Democratic former state representative who enlisted her help when he investigated a Republican oil commissioner for ethical breaches. "Maybe she is not ready for prime time, or maybe she is going to litter the national landscape with people who have underestimated her."

    > Cindy McCain defends Palin (AP, others)

Asked about Palin's credentials, Cindy McCain told ABC-TV's "This Week:" "The experience that she comes from is with what she's done in the government. And also, remember: Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia. So, it's not as if she doesn't understand what's at stake here."

    > Palin’s mother-in-law uncertain how she’ll vote (New York Daily News)

Faye Palin admitted she enjoys hearing Barack Obama speak, and still hasn't decided which way she'll vote. "We don't agree on everything. But I respect her passion," she said. "Being pro-life is who Sarah is."

    > Palin made impression from the start (Washington Post)

In the months of speculation over whom McCain would pick as his vice presidential running mate, Palin's name occasionally surfaced but rarely as a serious choice. But by the time she arrived in Arizona last Wednesday to meet first with two top McCain advisers and then the next day with the candidate and his wife, Cindy, the job was her's to lose.
Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager and the person at the point of the vice presidential process, said there was no abrupt change of course in the final hours. Nor, he said, was Palin selected without having gone through the full vetting process that was done for other finalists. That process included reviews of financial and other personal data, an FBI background check and considerable discussion among the handful of McCain advisers involved in the deliberations.

    > Long-Standing Feud in Alaska Embroils Palin

For the past several years, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, has been embroiled in a bitter family feud that has drawn in the state police, the attorney general, the governor's office and the state legislature.

    > McCain's Mrs. Right (Newsweek)

Palin is an American original. She calls herself a "hockey mom" and manages to juggle the lives of her five children (the last, born with Down syndrome, is less than 5 months old) while running the state of Alaska and routinely antagonizing the powers that be. Last fall a NEWSWEEK reporter visited her office in Anchorage.... As she spoke to the reporter, she juggled two BlackBerrys and a cell phone, with one always buzzing. She seemed unfazed, indeed to be having fun. As strands of hair fell from her librarian's bun she deftly executed an intricate "don't drop the BlackBerry while fixing the bobby pin" maneuver, several times.

    > Where Palin made her name (Time)

Normal small-town life for the First Dude and his wife is over. Even as Governor, Palin was still spotted at the market, driving her SUV around town, or worshiping at the nondenominational Wasilla Bible Church. On Friday afternoon, I was able to just pick up the phone and call Palin's parents, who live in town. They had just heard the news Friday morning themselves; they had been out caribou hunting and gold mining — how Alaska is that? — so there wasn't any advance warning for them. Her mother Sally told me this before remembering that she's not allowed to talk to reporters now, that they've been told that they have to learn about the new protocol. She seems genuinely sorry about this. "We're very, very proud of her," she told me before hanging up.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin faces a getting-to-know-you process as the Republican vice presidential candidate, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds: Most Americans say they've never heard of her. There is also wide uncertainty about whether she's qualified to be president. REPUBLICANS vs DEMOCRATSAct 1 Scene 1:One man who answers to a funny name like Barack Obama tickles hardcore Democrats with his rivet ting opening speech at a solid Democratic Convention some three years ago. Standing ovations, blank cheques, access to the corridors of power et all follow suite....But to one Hillary Clinton, he's just a small boy, a passing cloud like on Daniel arap Moi of Kenya; no ambition, no dream, no threat!Act 1 Scene 2:The guy with the funny name decides to take a stab at the presidential nomination process, and still no one takes him seriously. Ahhh, they know, that even if he might just put up a 'fight', we'll neutralise him with the SUPER delegates!!!!Act 1 Scene 3: The bloody young man instead neutralises the 'opposition' using the same SUPER delegates secret weapon and gets to call the shots at the end of the day. His opponents are left crying foul, licking their wounds and with nothing more but kiss his **** for all he cares!Act 2 Scene 1:Enemy 1 is vanquished and within control, by default. The troops have been assembled and aligned to fight Obama's wars. The Democrats pull off a major Party Convention that keeps everyone up all night throughout the world. Climax: The Speech of speeches that showcases a serious brother out for serious business. The Republicans on the other hand are still waiting for John McCain, their preferred prefect to nominate a veep to upstage the soaring and surging Democratic Wave!Act 2 Scene 2:Democrats off stage. In comes the Reds. First of all John's pick for VP shocks Americans literally. Serious commentators every where, whether political, economic, foreign policy analysts, even CNN's Sports Guru Terry Badoo, didn't know who Sarah Palin was. I bet guys in Alaska didn't either. Only John McCain knew her. She is hurriedly brought from stage but her 'supporting' actors are not supporting her at all. Alaskan noise makers are quickly telling the world how she has issues with her ex brother-in-law, an Alaskan State Trooper. The they continue to squeak about her cronyism in allegations that Palin ordered the firing of Alaska's public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper. Then lately her unmarried 17 years old daughter Bristol who is supposedly 5 months pregnant, and making her anti abortion, strong morale family values erode, just like Hurricane Gusto eroded a much anticipated Reds Convention. Act 2 Scene 3:Gusto gate crushes the Reds Party and really rocks the boat. I mean did you see that show! A hurricane comes to town and steals John McCain's show.... Last week it was Obama stealing my show, this week, Gustav???? Damn.....Act 3 Scene 1: Obama, behind the scenes laughing himself off like crazy how everything he didn't plan is working his way, puts on a shrewd political act by castigating those who are trying to dig into the Palin family 'blunders'. And he silences them with harsh tones saying that it is unfair and that family is off political limits! But as he speaks, his lieutenants' guns are smoking and baying for Palin's blood and going for the jugular, directly contradicting the Generals order.... And then Obama retreats to the shadows, and lauuuuuughs some more!Act 3 Scene 2:The gloomy and pale Reds Convention is eclipsed by Gustav as even George Walker Bush and his side kick John you know who try to show sympathy and empathy towards Gustav's imminent destruction agenda! And what a miserable flop it was. '.....one geezer stands up at the convention and orders every red to remove their cell phones and donate to Gustav related charity......" how gross! It just shows how they never have the time to bond and connect with calamity. All they know is...please bring out the cheque book!!!!Act 4 Scene 1:The Blues have been handed arsenal, ammo, and boy are they trigger happy. Lets watch the next act....to be continued..... more pararrazzi storm into Palin's hometown, Wasilla, Alaska
  • The Katrina and Gustav Siblings

Posted: September 2, 2008, 2:49 pm by the godfather
WITH THE REPUBLICAN REGIME, AMERICANS, YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN...
In my opinion, Katrina and Gustav are two spoilt brats. Three years ago, Katrina, Gustav elder sister came rudely knocking on the New Orleans coast. Months before she had huffed and puffed, signalling her majestic arrival in New Orleans. The hurricane centre, the government, the local authorities all rubbished her, constantly down grading her.....until she romped home. Causing wanton destruction, she touched every fibre every where she went, leaving behind death, death and more death. And all this while, as people died and suffered and lamented and wondered if they were indeed Americans, George Bush and his gang just sat at watched. The world screamed, abuses were hurled at them, but nothing would unsettle them from the comforts of their seats at the Capital. Three years on Katrina sends her younger brother Gustav, and lo and behold Gustav decided to romp home just when a big party has been laid to celebrate 8 destructive years. So Gustav says to himself' 'well, well, well. Since they want to rock a democratic party, why don't I just rock theirs instead?..." And spoilt, manner less Gustav does just that. Spot dead to coincide with the opening ceremony of the party, spoiling peoples moods, wasting the drinks and food arranged for the party goers and messing up the guest list, with serious guests failing to make it, thus sending their side kicks to represent! The American people on Gustav's path of destruction had better thank their lucky stars that this is an election year, otherwise that Republicans wouldn't give a damn whether they lived or not! And that's a fact. When Katrina came, what was so important that kept George Bush from helping his subjects during that horrible time? Lesson Number 1: The Republican Government only cares about it citizens whenever there is a general election. After that, like Barack Obama said it very well, ......YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN........

  • Radovan Karadzic refuses to enter plea!!!

Posted: August 30, 2008, 7:03 pm by the godfather
THE BUTCHER'S DEFIANCE Defiant Radovan Karadzic just makes me happy! Before a judge on Friday for the second time since his arrest the Serbian butcher refused to enter pleas to all 11 charges against him accusing the Hague Tribunal of 'being an NATO court."
But, acting as his own defense lawyer, he has already fired off lengthy motions, letters and requests in recent days. He wants copies of warrants to search his former home, copies of orders to freeze his assets and answers to his challenge of the court’s jurisdiction. He has demanded to know whether NATO or the United States intended to kill him.
The hearing on Friday was one of a series of steps leading up to his trial on charges of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes during the Bosnian war between 1992 and 1995.
Prosecutors will seek to prove that as political leader and commander in chief of a Bosnian Serb mini-state, he bears the legal responsibility for some of the greatest atrocities of the Balkan wars, including the massacre in Srebrenica, where close to 8,000 unarmed Muslim men and boys were executed in 1995, and the three-year siege of Sarajevo, which left 10,000 civilians dead.
Iain Bonomy, the Scottish judge in charge of the proceedings, kept a brisk pace, giving Mr. Karadzic little chance to stray from the agenda. He told Mr. Karadzic he had the right to have his indictment read out to him. Judge Bonomy urged Mr. Karadzic to take on professional defense lawyers because of the huge workload awaiting him.
He also chided the prosecution, which has said it is revising the indictment against Mr. Karadzic and will present a new version in late September.
  • The unknown Sarah Palin

Posted: August 30, 2008, 6:40 pm by the godfather
Ati Sarah who? Republicans just lost an election!!!!!
Even revered CNN journalists like Wolfe Blitzer didn't know her. Obama didn't know her and I bet Governor Sarah Palin, McCains hot looking sexy smiling veep wasn't on George Walker Bush's radar either!!!
The story goes that John McCain had met the former Miss Alaska and mother of five only once, six months ago and one more time, secretly, a few hours before nominating her his veep! I can bet a million dollars that as Barack Obama was white washing the Republicans on that mighty Denver podium on Thursday night, John McCain didn't have a clue whom he would nominate as his running mate. His choice reeks of desperation and poor judgement to cool Obama's racing heels.
My take is that Governor Palin's nomination has raised the Democrats thirst for the White House a notch higher for the following reasons:
    1. There's no way that Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton will be overtaken to the White House by any other woman in America, let alone some small time Governor from the shags of America. And after shoring up a sterling performance during her speech at the convention, not forgetting her ally and hubby Bill's speech, and safely securing a political future post Obama Presidency , Hillary will go flat out at vanquishing Mrs Palin at all costs.
    2. If the McCain camp thought that his choice would eat into disillusioned Hillary supporters, they best be aware that the 18,000,000 votes that hit the glass ceiling, will view this choice as offensive and ridiculous and Hillary has all the ammunition to go for the jugular!
    3. The most important anti Obama campaign issue of IN-EXPERIENCE that the Republicans had successfully used and really succeeded in keeping Obama in check has been killed in a minute upon Palin's appointment, however solid they think her credentials might be. Now the Democrats will eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner, of course with the help of the Media, and laugh all the way to 'The White House Bank'
    4. McCain has by default begun a hot succession debate outside the White House. Democrats are going to want to convince the voters that were John McCain to drop dead today, seeing his age and state of health, would America be willing to be led by a woman who has been un tested, even locally? This indeed is a tall order.
    5. And with President Bill Clinton calling the shots from behind the scenes, after an authoritative witty Obama stamp of approval, will not allow McCain to romp to the White House that easily. He is likely to, even with the permission of his wife, use his woman charms on the women voters and secure Hillary's political historical future. Bill Clinton's Obama approval was in fact political expediency for conceding defeat to a battle but preparing the ground to win a war! (read Hillary's war.)
Hillary Clinton is out to make history in America and she will steam roll anyone in her way. She was the first ever Woman Presidential candidate from a major political party to take a stab at the White House. She was the first woman to openly vote to seek the nomination by acclamation of the first ever Black man to the White House. She was the first woman to be First Lady and then Senator. And hell no will she allow to be passed over again in her quest for the White House. Obama passed her over. Over her dead body will some former Miss Alaska pass her over. And with 18 million sharpened arrows in her quaver, even Robin Hood was duck the woods she hunts!

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE JUDGE HISTORY.... One of my avid reader's posted this comments in one of my posts and I thought I should post it on its own merit. Anonymous said... Hi Alen, Just came across a interesting article about NBO in Kenyatta days. It is by Dominic Odipo. By: Dominic Odipo Anyone who was in Nairobi in the mid-1970s has probably heard the story, perhaps apocryphal, of the young man, the nyama choma (barbecue) and the urine. A young man, who was very close to the Kenyatta family, is said to have driven to an up-market, roast-meat joint in the city in the company of several female friends. Upon arrival, he spied a large, succulent piece just about ready for consumption. Without much ado, he ordered the meat roaster to carve up that piece for them and roast another one for whoever had ordered that piece. At this point, however, the owners of the prize piece arrived on the scene and flatly declared that nobody would take their meat, no matter what. "Do you know who I am?" the young man coolly inquired? "We don't know and we don't care," came the reply. "Order your meat and wait for it to be roasted like everybody else." "Then none of us is going to eat this meat," the young man snapped. In one quick movement, he grabbed the chunk of meat, marched through the door with it and dumped it on the lawn. Then he casually undid his zip, urinated methodically on it and then drove off in a huff with his entourage. More than 30 years after this story began circulating in Nairobi, its impact has stubbornly failed to fade from my mind. Every time I hear the words 'impunity' and 'arrogance', it is this story which first leaps to the mind. But that is not our story today. Mau Mau How will history judge Mzee Jomo Kenyatta? Let us try and preempt it: Was he a member of the Mau Mau movement, which did so much to destroy Britain's political will to continue colonising Kenya? When this question was put to him at the infamous Kapenguria trial of 1953, Kenyatta denied that he had ever been a member of the Mau Mau. He appeared to reinforce this position when, after he assumed supreme power, he methodically pushed former Mau Mau warriors and their kinsmen to the political and economic periphery and, instead, embraced the home-guards and their fellow-travellers who had done so much to destroy all that the Mau Mau had fought and died for. Did Kenyatta's vision for Kenya include a harmonious, de-tribalised and truly democratic country? The answer, almost certainly, is NO. His vision appears to have included a benign dictatorship governed by his own whims and inclinations and those of his cronies. If his appointments to high office were any guide, the Old Man appeared to believe that Kenya was, first and foremost, a country of the chosen few and that those chosen few were the men and women who surrounded him and could speak in his native tongue. To Kenyatta, his Kikuyu community, especially the Kiambu extraction of it, was at the centre of the national universe and the rest of the country's indigenous communities were necessarily peripheral and inconsequential. Did Kenyatta believe in the basic democratic principles of freedom of expression and the rule of law? If he did, then this must have been before he became President. Afterwards, there is hardly any evidence that he did. Under Kenyatta, the Press could write whatever it liked as long as it did not rub the President or any of his close cronies the wrong way. Three of the most obnoxious political assassinations in this country all occurred under Kenyatta's watch. The first was that of Pio Gama Pinto; the second was that of Tom Mboya and the third was that of Josiah Mwangi Kariuki. All of these doomed men were first rate political operators and there is little doubt that all their deaths were political. Did Kenyatta know in advance that these men were going to be killed? The simple answer is that we don't know. But, circumstantially and procedurally, given the political-cum-security environment of those years, it is extremely unlikely that such sensitive and high-profile killings could have been undertaken without his knowledge. If Kenyatta knew in advance that those men were going to be killed, that would be a very fundamental statement about his stewardship. If he did not know, that would be a statement only a little less earth-shaking because it would mean that, for 13 years, he had probably been 'sleeping on the job'.When our historians come to assess Kenyatta 100 years hence, these are the kind of questions they will be asking. We don't yet know for sure what sort of answers they will get but, given the facts already on the ground, we can boldly begin to anticipate them.At this point it appears that history will judge Kenyatta very harshly. But let us all wait for the verdict itself. The writer is a lecturer and consultant in Nairobi.

HILLARY DOES IT AGAIN...BARACK OBAMA NOMINATED BY ACCLAMATION .... courtesy of Hillary Clinton Ladies and Gentlemen, Hillary Clinton has today made history and stepped into the annuls of American historical corridors. For a thousand years to come, America's former First lady and Senator of New York will be remembered for moving a monumental and course changing motion on Wednesday 27th August 2008, that accentuated an entire Democratic National Convention into Nominating by Acclamation America's first ever Black Contender for the Office of President of the United States of America. And with that piece of history sealed, Hillary Clinton will stomp any and every political podium and shout from every roof top, that she personally initiated the move to make Barack Obama President of the United States. And when Obama gets into the White House, he will forever thank Hillary for smoothing the way for him. While watching the whole political machinery go into play during the Democratic presidential roll call, I was shocked to see Hillary step up as New York was called state how they wanted to vote. And with the spotlight on her, she went on to ask the Convention secretary to disband the ongoing roll call and nominate Barack Obama by acclamation as the Democratic Presidential Candidate. The Clinton's are back and here to stay. I saw this yesterday and now I know that the Clinton's are now defining their political direction which, I will bet will be a most powerful Political Family in the United States for Centuries to come. Yesterday I saw a Clinton political game plan formulating before my very eyes. It wasn't a mistake that Hillary was introduced to the convention by her daughter Chelsea yesterday, and by this Chelsea was literally thrown and showcased into the American political ring by default. It was by political design that Hillary be the one to move the nomination motion and take credit for it, now and forever, and lastly it was not lost that after history was made, former President Bill Clinton will be crowning the days events with his Convention speech. Now if this is not political brilliance, then I don't know what to call it. Ladies and gentlemen, Bill Clinton is a political master manipulator and we are about to see big things ahead as they define the course of American politics for years to come. With what has happened tonight, Clinton has secured and sealed a political Presidential future for his wife, paved the way for a political introduction for his daughter and basically stolen the thunder from behind the scenes to be a future force to reckon with in the Democratic Party and on the American political landscape. REVEALED: SENIOR BARACK OBAMA'S FORMER AMERICAN WIFE IN KENYA

Confirmed sources in Nairobi yesterday revealed the existence of an American woman who answers to the name of Ruth Ndesanjo, who was once the wife of Senior Barack Obama, the Kenyan father of US Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama! Visited by the daily Nation at her upmarket residence of Lavington in Kenya's capital of Nairobi, the reserved now Mrs. Ndesanjo refuses to talk about politics, a woman who features prominently in Barack's book Dreams From My Father. As she went about her business in Nairobi as Madari kindergarten teacher, she told the Nation: “I’ve been here (in Kenya) for 44 years and run this school for 28 years, but my age is none of your business.”
A close family friend who talked to the Nation after the interview at her residence had fond memories of his encounter with Ruth’s parents in Boston, USA, in 1966. Mr Barack Odinge Odera said Obama Snr and Ruth were a wonderful couple.
Ruth was most reluctant to do this interview. “No interview about my private life. I’m Mrs Ndesandjo, a caring man who built for me the school you visited,” she said. And as foreign journalists with positive and negative intentions troop to the Kenyan capital in search of a story or dirt on Obama, the US Presidential elections have all the ingredients of being dirty, as the two opposing camps roll up their sleeves for a bare-knuckled, dirty, no-bars-hold fight for the White House. The saga continues.....

HILLARY UNITING THE PARTY? I DON'T THINK SO....

New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, former US First Lady and immediate former Democratic Party Presidential contender didn't impress me last night at her much anticipated and hyped Convention speech in Colorado. I just wasn't impressed. I personally believe that we are yet to see the last of the Clinton's. Hillary last night officially opened her bid for the White House in 2012! And she did it with gusto. The woman has style, knows how to capitalise of political expediency and put on a real good show for herself (and also Chelsea for the future). She knows that 18 million disgruntled voters could be her perfect excuse for her 2012 sights and doesn't want to just throw it all away, just yet. As for the Obama support needed from the Clinton axis is all a fairy tale. In the background Hillary fans the fires from behind the scenes to make Obama look desperate while on the front she comes out smiling and 'supporting' him for the Presidency. Sheer politics! Welcome to the real world Obama, NA BADO! Did you see all those hillaryclinton.com and Hillary emblazoned sea of banners as she strode onto the podium before being given a 4+ minutes encore even before she had opened her mouth? The winners of the night were indeed the Clinton's and more so Bill Clinton, who in his mind isn't finished yet with Obama. His Clintonite Dynasty will be built at all costs and for them this is just a pit stop! Didi you see him smiling all through his wife's speech? He wasn't smiling because Hillary was scoring the point for Obama? He was literally in stitches for what his wife was doing in terms of securing her political future. Period. Achana na siasa bwana. I am watching what Lewinsky's former sweetheart has in his bag of political tricks tonight!

The 101 Democratic Convention Kicks off in Style as...
Magnificent Michelle and Thunderous Teddy Roar!In a carefully scripted Democratic Party National Convention Opening Night in Denver Colorado last night, Michelle Obama, US Democratic Presidential Candidate Barrack Obama's wife literally stole the thunder off her critic, white washed the Hillary Clinton 'losing phobia' and stole the hearts of the 20,000 plus Democrats inside the Pepsi Hall and millions upon million watching her in America and the world over.
After being introduced by her elder brother 6ft 6inches Craig Robinson, Michelle softly bellowed her opening statement, 'As you might imagine, for Barrack, running for president is nothing compared to that first game of basketball with my brother, Craig. I can’t tell you how much it means to have Craig and my mom here tonight. Like Craig, I can feel my dad looking down on us, just as i’ve felt his presence in every grace-filled moment of my life.'
And as she gracefully went through her speech, Democrats, black and white, old and young, straight and gay, physically impaired and mentally challenged connected with the south side Chicago born and bred girl who is stealthily racing to be the 44th First Lady of the United States of America.
Mentioning Hillary Clinton's sacrifices on the American people, Michelle tickled emotions and a thunderous acclaim which maybe did its magic at pacifying perceived 'bad blood' between her husband Barrack and the Clinton's.
And when Powerful Barrack joined in via satellite from Kansas city, to congratulate his wife, the convention hall seemed to be overtaken by familial emotions when the Obama's and their children played put a loving family setup in front of millions of people around the world.
While watching the whole show though the night, far, far away from the United States, I have never been so taken over by such political grandeur like the Democrats did of me last night. This is going to be a contest to watch.

Michael, Mom Debbie and her ex-hubby Fred Phelps
This is the indefatigable twenty three year old American swimmer Michael Fred Phelps, who seems to have a developed an insatiable appetite of breaking swimming records knack at bagging every gold has taken the world and indeed the Beijing Olympics by storm. This young man, whose parents divorced when he was nine years old has to his record scooped a total of 14 all-time Olympic gold medals and currently holds seven world records in swimming.
At the ongoing Olympics he has bagged a total of eight swimming gold medals. In winning these medals, he has twice equaled Soviet gymnast Alexander Dityatin's record of eight medals (of any type) at a single Olympics. He is currently the worlds most decorated Olympian in the entire Olympics history.

Now that he's won his eight gold medals, Michael Phelps is officially the "greatest Olympian of all time." Now the swimmers mom, Debbie, has an impressive title of her own. Johnson's Baby has dubbed Debbie their "Mom of the Olympic Games" – and the company will donate money in her name to children's causes. "When he was nine, 10, 11 years old, he would sit at the pool for hours," she said. "That's why when I was talking with his teachers, and they'd say, 'He can't focus on anything,' I'd say, 'Well yes he can! He can focus on the pool.' ... He was able to focus on what he loved." During Michael Phelps' races, camera shots of his mother Debbie were a fixture on NBC. All this coverage of the Phelps family led to one obvious question from our readers: Where was Dad?
It's been well-documented that Debbie and Fred Phelps divorced when Michael was 9. Beyond that, little else has been publicized about Michael Phelps' father.
Fred Phelps is a retired Maryland State Trooper, lives in a suburb of Baltimore and has remarried since divorcing Debbie Phelps in 1993. According to the Baltimore Sun, he watched the Olympics from his home, saying he was "on pins and needles" every time Michael dove into the pool. But, the New York Post reported that Fred has yet to call his son to congratulate him on his Olympic accomplishments.
Following the divorce, Fred Phelps had little contact with his son. Prior to the 2004 Olympics, Michael told a reporter that his father hadn't even called to congratulate him when he set his first world record. However, the two reconciled prior to the Athens Games and Fred even made the trip to watch his son win six golds and two bronzes. Since then, however, the relationship has reportedly fractured.

For seven memorable minutes, the world stood up and watched as brilliant Kenyan swimmer Jason Dunford held the Olympic 100 metres butterfly record that he shattered on the way to making it to Friday’s semi-finals of his speciality at Beijing’s National Acquatic Centre.
Stunned swimming analysts froze in awe inside the 18,000-seater “Water Cube”, one of Beijing’s architectural masterpieces, as the 21-year-old student of human physiology at Stanford University swam 51.14 seconds to break American Michael Phelps’ old mark of 51.25 that he set at the Athens Games four years ago.
Jason was swimming in Heat Seven which he won by 0.23 seconds ahead of second-placed Australian Andrew Lauterstein. His parents Martin and Geraldine and brothers David and Robert watched.
David had earlier just failed to make it to the semi-finals of the 50m freestyle despite winning Heat Nine in a new national record of 22.29 seconds, an improvement on his brother Jason’s previous mark of 22.73 seconds.
But swimming in Heat Nine, seven minutes after Jason’s record, Serbian Milorad Cavic, under pressure from American torpedo Michael Phelps improved on the Kenyan sensation’s time, clocking a new Olympic record 50.76 seconds which is just 0.26 seconds outside American Ian Crocker’s world record of 50.40 set in Montreal in 2005.

For one reason or another I felt the real insecurity of being totally and utterly dependant on my laptop (Internet world). My machine, after performing normally today suddenly decides to crush on me and I was left feeling wasted! That more than 60% of my real work is done over the Internet is a matter of grave concern for me. Because either I will have to device ways of having a machine that is fully 'insured' crushes or spend more in delivering work to clients, something that I have comfortably done over the Internet. I am so annoyed at my dependency on this technology it hurts! If you cant beat them, they say, join them.... we are indeed neck deep....

The Chinese I tell you have outdone themselves. Albeit all the recent global bad mouthing from their polluted air space to their human rights record to their clamping down on Internet freedom, they have put up a most impressive Olympic Opening Ceremony that has left the world to say the least, breathless.

With the placard holders leading the Athlete Parade, the Greek team entered first, leading 203 other countries represented at the Games. The placard's have been designed as a Chinese painting scroll, corresponding to the former performance. Then there's this paper that was strewn on the stadium floor for all the 10,000 athletes to walk over as they walked into the stadium leaving colorful footprints. All athletes from the world will leave their footprints on this piece of paper. Their colorful footprints will form a beautiful scene with the painting left by artistic performers. This paper will become the Protocol Platform, a most unique design of this Ceremony, mildly and prettily melting the artistic performance into the parade of athletes.

After speeches by Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing Municipality and the President of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bidding Committee in 1999, Belgian Jacques Rogge, 8th President of the International Olympic Committee and President of the People’s Republic of China, Hu Jintao, who declares the declares the opening of the Olympic, the next big creative show is the entrance of the Olympic Flag and Torch.

Eight flag bearers representing the Chinese Olympic history troop into the stadium carrying the Olympic flag. The flag is raised and the Olympic anthem played. Athlete’s and Officials represented by two members from each side take their respective official oath on behalf of their respective colleagues, athletes and officials.

Then doves are released as a symbol of peace as a hundred young women lead the athletes and spectators to imitate the act of dove release on the the Protocol Platform.

Then the flame arrives...and i think this deserves its own space....AMAZING AND BREATH TAKING UTTERLY CREATIVE FUNCTION....OH MY GOD

The Chinese are bent on showing the world that they are truly a force to reckon with in anything and everything that goes around the world.....

In attendance are world leader's who include George Bush and Nikolas Sarkozy other leading heads of governments, monarchs and famous people.

    Well done Beijing...

  • al-Qeada Terrorist Mystery Disappearance

Posted: August 5, 2008, 10:02 pm by the godfather
I thought to myself yesterday, in my terror, that it wasn't just possible for a hard core terrorist such as Fazul Abdullah, who is wanted over the November 28, 2002 bomb attack at an Israeli-owned tourist hotel in Kilifi, Mombasa Kenya, to evade a police dragnet and disappear into thin air just like that! My analogy was that a security leak from within the police trap aided his escape, as confirmed from reports trickling out of Kenya's capital, Nairobi.
It is reported that a couple of minutes before the police dragnet stormed his Malindi hideout, the guy is claimed to have hurriedly left the place for an unknown destination (police believe Mombasa) leaving behind his laptop, two passport's, the food he was allegedly eating and his change of clothes. Initial reports indicated that the passports were foreign but copies seen by the Nation showed that they were Kenyan. One of the passports had expired while the other was issued on February 28, 2008.Three people who are believed to have aided his safe keep in Kenya, Mahfudh Ashur Hemed, his wife Luftiya Abubakar Bashrahil and their son Ibrahim Mahfudh Ashur have since been arrested and denied the charges when produced in a Mombasa High court under heavy security. Hemed and his son were found inside a house in Malindi Old Town at 7.30pm on Saturday, just three hours after the officers received information that senior members of al Qaeda had met to prepare an attack. The squad of 25 officers from the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit, backed by the GSU’s Recce Company, raided yet another house in Malindi, where Fazul was believed to have been hiding. My opinion is that someone in the security network needs to answer for this blunder. That a police officer could actually tip off Abdullah and aid his escape sends chilling signals as to the compromised state of security in Kenya. How can people who are entrusted with the security of Kenya as a sovereign state, be trusted to guarantee the security of Kenyans when they can actually be involved in a security breech as lethal as this? This is really depressing. Money obviously changed hands and not one or two or three people are involved in this scandal, because it actually is a scandal of high proportions. The security apparatus in Kenya, besides working round the clock to apprehend and put him in his place (i suggested Guantanamo bay), a serious top to bottom reshuffle, rearrangement and realignment of the entire Kenyan security network needs to be addressed urgently. And maybe, just maybe, these stupid blunders that put at risk the security of an entire Nation and region will never be allowed to occur again.Someone needs to pay the price!

    ANNOYED DAR ES SALAAM STUDENTS
With the recent hiking of public transport fares in Tanzania, because of obvious fuel cost escalation reasons, students have had to bare the full brunt of the whole operation. These youngster have had to contend with fighting for scare transport to schools with adult full paying passengers whilst bus conductors often refused to carry them on board. But with the meagre fares of TZS 50, all was well, until Monday this week. After fare hikes, the poor students still have to contend with hustling for the limited transport and the conductors, but they are not taking kindly to the fact that they now have to pay TZS 100 per one way trip!!!! So the lads and lasses resorted to a strike and it wasn't funny!!! Seen here above, the students, who were captured by fast actioned Bukuku Mpoki, had the audacity to chide and jeer a POLICE OFFICER who was comfortably seated in the bus. They wondered why she wasn't coming to their aid, and went on to tell her that this was because she was getting a free ride!!!! At least they had their TZS 100 to pay for the ride!!!!! Such cheek!

During the first day of the fare hike, some students resorted hiking to all sorts of lifts to school as seen here, when dangerously getting on to this lorry!

The Strike! they must have had a field day away from their Science, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics class sessions! Physical Education this was maybe!!!!

  • Man of the Moment...Mr. I-Dont-Know-How-To-Drive

Posted: August 4, 2008, 7:48 pm by the godfather
    MALLYA ON THE SPOT, AGAIN!!!

You don't want to be one Deus Mallya (left being escorted to hospital immediately after the accident) a.k.a 'Mr. i-cant-drive-a-car'! This is indeed a man on the spot in Tanzania. This is the man who was allegedly 'a passenger' in the fatal car accident that stole the life of a prominent Tanzanian opposition member of parliament Hon. Chacha Wangwe. The guy, who Civic United Front (CUF) party chief Prof. Ibrahim Lipumba has branded a terrorist, was apparently seen driving the late Wangwe by family member and mechanic of the garage where he and the late MP went have their car serviced less than two hours before the accident occurred at the Panda Mbili area outside Dodoma.Deus, who is right now in police custody to answer charges of reckless driving and driving a vehicle without a licence, let alone a valid one, denies that he was driving. 'I don't even know how to drive,' he categorically states in his apparent excuse that he wasn't at the wheel. So who drove the b****y car whilst witnesses two minutes into the accident scene state that the honourable was literally plugged and strapped to his passenger seat, with his upper body stuck between the passenger seat and the mangled back door? kitendawili? tega! The Kuria's, Hon Wangwe's tribesmen, has albeit grudgingly buried their hero but more questions than answers beg of this incident!!!At yesterdays press conference in Dar es Salaam, opposition figures turned their heat on Mallya stopping short of calling him a perpetual liar. Lipumba: mafundi wa gereji walimwona akiendesha gari. familia nao, walimuona akiendesha gari.....hili swali ni zito kweli,' he stated as his compatriot James Mbatia of the NCCR-Mageuzi party confirmed that they would be seeking an appointment with the Inspector General of Police to take up the matter with him on the issue.
All in all, alot of questions beg for answers:
    1. How many people were in the saloon car travelling towards Dares Salaam on that fateful day?
    2. Who was the wheel at the time of the accident?
    3. If Hon. Wangwe was driving, when found strapped by his seat belt on the front passengers seat by eye witnesses ho arrived at the scene within minutes of the accident?
    4. Who is this mysterious fourth person who instructed that money be removed from the Honourable Wangwe's jacket pocket? Was he a passenger in the said car?
    5. Mallya says e was sleeping in the back seat of the car with Wangwe driving when the accident occurred? Is it possible that two friends travelling such a long distance would assume those seating positions??? A case of the boss driving the subject??? (real parliamentary service to the citizenry this is I tell you!!!
  • Utterly Chilling: al-Qaeda operative evades Police Dragnet in Kenya

Posted: August 4, 2008, 6:45 pm by the godfather
That most wanted East African al-Qaeda operative Fazul Abdullah Mohammed (Arabic: فاضل عبدالله محمد) (born August 25, 1972 February 25, 1974, or December 25, 1974) escaped a police dragnet in Kenya over the weekend sends chills down my spine. That the Comoran born terrorist, who masterminded the tragic and horrific 1998 U.S. embassy bombing in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam sneaked into Kenya via Somalia and had been shacking in some upmarket residential area in Malindi is even more shattering. Kenya's Standard sources supposes that the man is seeking medical treatment from alleged kidney ailments but other sources quoted by the Nation suppose that the man could be planning other attacks on Kenya. It is high time Kenya played harder and tougher ball with these people who have created fear and despondency amongst the populace. That someone planning more murder to Kenyans, especially after the elections events that dogged Kenya is the worst joke that can be entertained by any sane thinking person in Kenya. I am waiting to see if the much adrenalined Kenyan politicians will organise demonstrations against this operative in the same breathe they did when fighting for the coalition governments birth.God forbid that Kenya's security apparatus could be compromised to allow such a dangerous refuge in Kenya. With a price tag of $5 million on his head, and the recent revelations that Kenya's intelligence network was compromised into selling to Libyans the Grand Regency, someone has to take the flack for such a major blunder of this man side-stepping intelligence and security sleuths as sharp as the Kenyan ones. Terrorism has completely changed the face of this world for ever and to even imagine that i would be sharing a 200km radius with a most wanted man like Osama and his boys is to say the list a nightmare. This man needs to be apprehended and fast, and dispatched to the only one place in the world that I and George Bush fully agree on: Guantanamo Bay; not withstanding whatever tricks they allegedly use to 'extract' info from them ....

CONFLICTING ACCIDENT STORY THREATENS DISPUTE IN CHAACHA WANGWE'S DEATHThree days after the death sudden death of Tanzania fiery Tarime opposition legislator and CHADEMA party vice-chairman Hon. Chaacha Zakaria Wangwe (left) in a tragic road accident, controversy on the events surrounding the accident have cause today's burial ceremony to be stopped by the family pending further investigations, slated for tomorrow.

Reports emerging from a Panda Mbili, Dodoma, eye witness, Mwiguni George, who was allegedly the first on the accident scene that fateful Tuesday night, disputes original reports that Honorable Chaacha was driving the fateful Toyota Corolla vehicle with a passenger Deus Francis Mallya seated in the back seat. Mr. George, who was shocked at the earlier reports that stated the presence of only two passengers in the car, came out strongly to state that when he arrived at the scene of the accident, within minutes of it occurring, he found Hon. Chaacha's head stuck between the passengers seat and the back left passengers door.

Speaking on Tuesday with senior Police Officer led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Peter Kivuyo, (second right in picture) Dodoma Traffic Commander Vitus Nikata and the Dodoma Police boss Ramadhan Kalowa, Mr. George (left in picture) stated categorically, ' I found the deceased's body in the front passengers seat stuck between the front passengers seat and the back door. His seatbelt was still strapped to him. We then removed his body from the drivers side because it was impossible to remove it from the front passengers door which couldn’t open.'

He further states that as this was going on, a third person, was allegedly stopping other people from advancing the wreckage as he instructed that money from Hon. Chaacha' jacket pocket be removed. The man thereafter allegedly disappeared into the dead of night leaving Mr. George, survivor Deus Francis Mallya (left) and other accident witnesses. Commissioner Kivuyo later instructing his officers to takes a comprehensive statement from Mr. George later congratulated him for his patriotism.

With the burial now stopped at the Kemakorere village, about 20 kilometers from Tarime town, it will be interesting to see the turn of events. Family spokesman Prof. Wangwe, speaking on live national television a few minutes ago says the family has decided to halt the burial ceremony in order to get the opinion of an independent coroner as the actual facts of the legislators death. Hon. Wangwe (52) died suddenly on Tuesday night (8.55pm) at Pandili Mbili, Dodoma as he made his way to Dar es salaam for another funeral ceremony that was slated for the following morning in Dar es Salaam.

    REBELLIOUS YANGA HANDED SENTENCE

Tanzania’s leading soccer giant Young Africans (Yanga) have been handed a 3 year ban and fined $ 35,000 (about TZS 42 million) for boycotting Sunday’s Kagame Cup third place playoff match against arch rivals Simba Sports Club. The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) also appealed to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to impose a stiffer punishment on the club for bringing the game into disrepute. A furious CECAFA Secretary General Nicolas Musonye at yesterday’s press conference further stated that the suspension was final with no appeal. Said Musonye: “The has been fined 35,000 US dollars and this amount should be paid within the shortest possible period. We are asking TFF, our affiliate, to use all possible means to recover this money for us.” “Should the three year ban elapse and the club has not paid the fine, they will not be allowed to participate in our competitions,” the stern Secretary General added. Noting that CECAFA would further take up the matter with Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) for further disciplinary actions, he went ahead and noted that, ‘this is the first time in the history of CECAFA for such incident to take place.’ Yanga failed to honour the CECAFA final playoff with Simba accusing TFF and CECAFA of breaching their agreement of paying both Simba and Yanga 50million each before playing their match. Musonye however denied there being such an agreement. ‘There was no agreement with TFF, Simba and Yanga regarding any financial obligations. Any engagement between TFF and the two clubs was an internal arrangement that CECAFA was not a party to.”(pic courtesy of Mwananchi newspaper)

  • Mukesh Ambani's $2 bn home world's most expensive

Posted: July 26, 2008, 3:03 am by the godfather
The 27-storey skyscraper being built in Mumbai by Mukesh Ambani, the richest person in India, could be the world's largest and costliest home with a price- tag nearing two billion dollar, according to Forbes magazine. "When the Ambani residence is finished in January, completing a four-year process, it will be 550 feet high with 400,000 square feet of interior space," Forbes said in a report on its website. Earlier in March, Mukesh Ambani was ranked as the fifth richest person in the world with a net worth of 43 billion dollars by the Forbes magazine in its annual list of world's wealthiest billionaires. While Lakshmi Mittal, who is an Indian citizen was ranked higher at fourth, he is a British resident. Among resident Indians, Mukesh was ranked at top. "The only remotely comparable high-rise property currently on the market is the 70 million dollar triplex penthouse at the Pierre Hotel in New York, designed to resemble a French chateau, and climbing 525 feet in the air," Forbes said in its report titled, "Inside The World's First Billion-Dollar Home." Mukesh Ambani heads India's most valuable firm Reliance Industries, an oil and petrochemicals giant. "Like many families with the means to do so, the Ambanis wanted to build a custom home. They consulted with architecture firms Perkins + Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates, the designers behind the Mandarin Oriental, based in Dallas and Los Angeles, respectively," the report said."Plans were then drawn up for what will be the world's largest and most expensive home: a 27-story skyscraper in downtown Mumbai with a cost nearing 2 billion dollars." According to Forbes, Mukesh, along with his wife Nita Ambani and three children, currently live in a 22-story Mumbai tower. The report further noted that the cost for the Ambani residence, called Antilla whose shape is based on Vaastu, would be more than a hotel or high-rise of similar size because of its custom measurements and fittings. While a hotel or condominium has a common layout, replicated on every floor, and uses the same materials throughout the building, the Ambanis' home has no two alike in either plans or materials used, it said. "At the request of Nita Ambani, say the designers, if a metal, wood or crystal is part of the ninth-floor design, it shouldn't be used on the eleventh floor, for example. The idea is to blend styles and architectural elements so spaces give the feel of consistency, but without repetition," it said. "Atop six stories of parking lots, Antilla's living quarters begin at a lobby with nine elevators, as well as several storage rooms and lounges. Down dual stairways with silver-covered railings is a large ballroom with 80 per cent of its ceiling covered in crystal chandeliers." The report said that Ambanis plan to use the residence occasionally for corporate entertainment also and they want its interiors to have a "distinctly Indian" look and feel. "The top floors of entertaining space, where Ambani plans to host business guests (or just relax) offer panoramic views of the Arabian Sea... For more temperate days, the family will enjoy a four-story open garden," it noted. (source Forbes Magazine)

Zimbabwe’s inflation rate is currently said to be running at somewhere between 2.2 million and 3 million per cent. The country has just printed a 100 billion dollar note with which (at the time of writing) one can hope to buy two loaves of bread. This kind of hyperinflation leading to such ridiculously large denomination bank notes is very nearly as extreme as Germany’s printing of a 100 trillion dollar bank note in 1924. Income tax hovers around 47.5%.
I can only imagine how the people of Zimbabwe can cope with such an interminable situation. I hate to imagine what this Zimbabwean on the left is going to buy? Maybe two eggs for breakfast????
