I don’t know much about politics. that I apologise for. reality is, the political scene going on in Kenya right now doesn’t really affect me especially since I’m currently based in South Africa. I tried reading nation and standard online but then I got distracted by other mediocre yet sadly more interesting websites like highdeas.com and fmylife.com . funny things. I do try to what the local news to see what Jacob Zuma’s up to from time to time. that’s my part, sorted!
what I do gather about the Kenyan political scene is mostly snippets from facebook and twitter. I’ve said it before, I am a social networking site junkie and proud of it. the first step to recovery is admitting there’s a problem right?
back to the politics…
most people aren’t even talking about the constitution. I think they should make it into a song and get Kenyan artists to collabo, throw in a hype-man like DNG. either that or incorporate it into a mini series like mtv’s shuga. I’d watch the shit out of that and maybe have something more to contribute when the topic came up.
the bombings in uhuru park. children were injured. who takes their kids to a political gig. seriously? especially in Kenya? last I checked either the yes or no camp attacked the other (???) my my Ugandan friends, think it may have been the same guys who bombed the night club during the world cup festivities.
Maggie Ciru a.k.a. (Margaret Wanjiru) the glory is gone!!! some of the resulting comments I saw form that were hilarious. some silver lining on the huge dark cloud that is kenyan politics.
where do these MP’s get the balls to ask for more money? apparently they need bigger allowances because when they go to their constituencies, the wananchis expect them to make it rain. honestly… they actually feel that that is enough justification. meanwhile. there’s MP’s offspring writing all over facebook and twitter about how they got to go to South Africa for the world cup, and how much shopping they did, and I can’t help thinking, damn! that’s my mom’s money, and on a more selfless note, how many families could that have fed? I mean, there’s still IDP’s!
again, on the positive side, at least mama taifa has been on her medication. I don’t wanna print her name just in case there are ramifications. remember when she was all crazy, throwing tantrums in media houses, karibu she slapped the president in public, good times! I know there’s groups of people who must have been disappointed when she went ‘normal’. comedians for one. that’s less material for them.
Then the fruit terminologies… remember when it was chungwa. Imagine random people watching the news or dignitaries passing through the country who were clueless about what was going on at the time. Seeing high profile polititians walking around with oranges? Shit was hilarious. How our beloved prime minister bought a hammer because “serikali nataka nyundo”… seriously dude? Hahaha… and how can I forget the latest one, ati “are you green? Red? Or are you a watermelon?” I have to give credit to whoever comes up with these things. Ati “VP anasema ako green lakini ukimkata, ndani ye ni red” hahahaha!
Then after all this drama the three men who people were fighting over, the same men over who houses were destroyed, hundreds killed, thousands displaced and a country was disgraced, they all ended up on top! The bastards! Then some of us actually get to see their children brag online about which shoes they got, or how they watched the world cup finals live in VIP box seats… it’s sad. Really. -
monday musings

balance.
how much is too much and when is ti just not enough? in regards to everything... food? sex? religion? focus? working out?
instinct aside, when does one draw the line...
a couple of people i know in my age group have been going on about having quarter life crises... not knowing where they are going with their careers choices, not liking their jobs, trying to quit drinking and smoking, reducing the casual sex...
you start getting freedom in your twenties,
jay-z said thirty's the new twenty
and there's older people who believe you truly start living in your forties...
how much partying is too much partying? when does one's personality start getting in the way of their success? and when that happens, then what? should you change or mask who you really are... what about standing up for what you believe in? tree planting and gay rights and things... how do you deal with people who put you down? and what about finding the thin line between positive criticism and straight up hating...
let your haters be your motivators - easier said than done innit???
there really is no point to this post. i have no insight to share, i just feel really bummed out today, monday blues, and i go back to SA on thursday.
ooh, i recently met one of my readers at an open mic event in town. he said something about the language in my blog being "coarse" those were his exact words i think. dude, there's the whole adult content thing before the page opens... -
waka waka etc!

this has got to be the most fun i've had in SA! world cup fever and everything . actually opted to stay here for the winter, got tickets, have seen one match so far (live that is , at the stadium) can you spell adrenaline???
it's been amazing so far, meeting new people, tourists are sooo friendly!
and also, i digress, i love me a foot ball player's physique. rugby players are too beefy, swimmers have freakishly long torso's, but football players!!! there's so lean and fit!!! i've said it before, i like my man like i like my steak, lean, minimal fat!
got to watch the german/serbia game live, and england fans came out of nowhere coz that match was played in my town, have met some cool german people, it's going great!!! though the winters a bitch and my electric blanket is on her period, i'm having an awesome time! currently at the cyber near the bar, waiting for the brazil / portugal game to start!
seems i may have to pick a premiership league team after this and join the emotional hooligans in the amazing world of football!!!
TSAMINAMINA, EH EH
WAKA WAKA EH EH
TSAMINAMINA ZANGALEWA,
ANAWA AH AH!!!
here's some pics from the stadium and fan park...
This is the part where you go green ;) -

i had taken a little break from the blogging scene, let's blame it on writer's block, the holidays and i guess lack of inspiration...
was thinking of shutting this down, i know, again, (empty threats) but it's like burning a diary... decided not to...
sneak preview of what's been going on for the past couple of weeks, in my mind that is :)
searching.
for something that resembles the truth,
doesn’t need to be tested, ready for use
she’ll take whatever, to replace the shit she abused
before it all came down
the wall she had built, brick by brick,
stuck together with hurt and guilt
the rubble, perfect metaphor
to this girl’s life, the current strife
world war 2.5 in her mind
the voices can’t co-reside
fuckity fucking fuck! –mental cries
miss lady goes out, walking about
joining shouts, watching drunk bouts
riding the high, dancing the night,
away.
hypnotized she wants to stay
forget about the rubble for an hour, maybe two
morning after, no sunshine and dew
just the shit she’s going through
so she searches for the truth, or an imitation
it’s all branded ‘enlightenment’ or ‘salvation’
Mohammed, Jesus, Buddha, Krishna
she read something about the lion of Judah
lion makes her think Zion…
Jah Rastafari,
clueless of how to start her journey
her spiritual safari.
do some yoga? feng shui her apartment
get more incense from that department
store?
confused more and more
wishing to overstand this shitty situation
SHITUATION
shrinks labeling it a mental condition
looking for a distraction or that one action that will cause a perfect reaction
and rid her of this mess.
dial-a-priest sins to confess
or text a preacher, she tries to read scripture
a bible verse
to give purpose
to this female spec in the universe…
feeling Thomas about the bible, you know, doubts
considers the Koran, maybe check its out
raised eyebrows, a reason for concern
about the truth, she tries to learn
the truth is MIA,
so fucking elusive
what she finds, incomplete imitations,
invented to make living conducive.
or so she thinks.
WHERE IS THE PROTOTYPE?
but it's not all seriousness and curious rants. i forgot my cable at home, bummer, but when i'm back at the cyber i'll put up pics of the world cup match i attended.
prepare to sip on some haterate peoples!!! hehehe!
peace and love! -

winter + exam fever.
i hate off days. i just want to sulk in bed with a really huge bowl of chicken soup. and not the instant cuppa-soup stuff. i want soup from our thai place. it's really chilli and has huge chunks of chicken in it. sadly, finances and time will not allow me to go get some. plus i don't even know how i'd carry take away soup in a matatu. maybe i go with a flask...
i need to buy a flask.
for now ladies and gents of Blogospheria, i remain waiting. waiting to be unsulked.
Blah blah blah
Fish cakes
Alas a fish cake.
Yet more fish cakes
Guess what ... yeah ... fish cakes.
The end of the fish cakes
