  • Finally!

I finally made it into film school(apparently I have talent)! Yay! Oooh, if all my skeptics could see me now. I remember the way I would try so hard to go to different types of people, showing them my scripts begging them to teach me how to edit. None of them had any interest in helping me in any way and even fewer people encouraging me. Only Wambui Murima (Rest in Peace) believed that I had talent that could make waves. And because of that extra push I am doing not just a college diploma or an undergraduate degree; I am doing my Master's degree in film. Its been so hard trying to get to this point. Its such a nice feeling to wake up each day and know that one day, I am going to be the best film producer in the world...ok ok baby steps, in Africa.
So herein starts my journey to becoming a storyteller.... # Kenyan Blogs ? >>
  • Moi and Kibaki Abaki? Well........

Posted: August 29, 2007, 1:36 pm by Wanjiku
Yes,I am a staunch supporter of Kibaki. If I had pom poms I would shake them, wave them and dance like those mamas trying to convince everyone that yeye ni mambo yote.
Now hold on, its not cause I'm a Kikuyu or anything to do with that(and I am not being paid to say this). Its just that when you look at all the other players, he is just the better option. Seriously, I dont even need to elaborate on why he is the better option(note: I didn't say 'best'). Just watch news everyday and you will judge for yourself. And I am not a political analyst so I wont comment on the political scene right now. Frankly, everyone is talking about it and its officially... boring.
However, this latest move of Moi supporting Kibaki is...Ummmm...I dunno. Its just feels weird and 'eeew' inside.
It sounds funny to me that the former president, and all the horrible things he did and let happen, would support him. And why would his support matter anyway? He is ancient history that many would like to leave buried, especially since he was given immunity not to be prosecuted for all the actions he commited.
In my eyes, it just doesn't register well. Its just yucky. Its almost like a merging of pure-evil and almost-good...
What does it really mean to get a blessing from him?
Kibaki abaki lakini.... ai! No thanks M.O-one. He shouldn't take advise from you, 24 years was enough. # Kenyan Blogs ? >>
  • Big Brother is Watching

Posted: August 24, 2007, 4:15 pm by Wanjiku
So I keep hearing that the Kenyan in the big brother house is a shady. And whats wrong with whats-his-name wearing an orange suit at the launch thingy? Or waking up early and doing the dishes? He is clearly a sensitive man who is not afraid of experimenting with colour and domestic chores. Stop hating people and vote Orange! Vote for ummm...whats-his-name... Yay!

Speaking of big brother watching, did you know that even though the ban on plastic bags was lifted for about the next 3 months so that they can properly implement it, City council guys are still arresting people? Not to mention anyone caught leaning on those huge flower pots in town (by the way they all smell like urine so why would u wanna lean on it? eeww. If it means getting some stability when I stumble, wacha tu nianguke), and anyone who parks in town leaving their tyres touching the curb will be arrested... (aww come on, seriously?). Oh ya, and for those of you who like sitting on that place opposite the Hilton you may just be picked up by cops. Its called idling. Idling in town is illegal-ish. So go home and idle there.
Drivers, you also MUST slow down when approaching a zebra crossing; even better, stop. Guys are being arrested for this. Wacha masupuu kama mimi tu-cross.
And, bargain shoppers, other than newspapers, don’t buy anything on the streets-these guys will pick you and leave the hawker.
The most practical one I feel is the one for not spitting in town. Its so gross when ur walking and you see a ka puddle of slimy spit, maybe even slip on it. yuck. So you spit, you get a fine. Also dont litter.

Beware yall. Big City Council brother guys are watching. You might find yourself in their ka-lorry. # Kenyan Blogs ? >>
