  • of my natural tea against the dreaded flu

Posted: October 31, 2008, 9:25 pm by gal africana
Warning: this is a biased medical opinion (albeit by a scientist)...be personally discerning :-)

I Love this tea :-) and I find it effective in preventing any early flu symptoms from developing into the full nasty monster. I usually drink it as often as I feel like, for a couple of days when I start feeling a flu coming on and then stop as soon as I feel better.

    Ingredients
    In a cup mix:

1/2 tsp of chopped ginger root
1 tea spoon of honey (or more...depending on what you like)
    1 table spoon of echinacea
    hot water

    yum :-)

I had considered getting a flu shot until I read about the contents of such a shot and the likelihood of it working...and then heard something about such shots being linked to winter depression incidences (yikes!!!!).

Echinacea works by boosting the immune system enabling the body to fight off infections. Herbalists swear by its effects while the pharmaceutical companies downplay ( in my opinion) its usefulness. Its up to YOU to decide what works for you.

This tea is preventative so you have to catch the symptoms early enough to actually prevent a full onset but even if the cold comes, you do aid your body by drinking it as you boost your immune system thus preventing subsequent colds.
  • Of power structures

Posted: October 31, 2008, 5:39 pm by gal africana
I'm thinking I want a Republic...the Democracy thing sucks so far!

Republic. That form of government in which the powers of sovereignty are vested in the people and are exercised by the people, either directly, or through representatives chosen by the people, to whome those powers are specially delegated. [NOTE: The word "people" may be either plural or singular. In a republic the group only has advisory powers; the sovereign individual is free to reject the majority group-think. USA/exception: if 100% of a jury convicts, then the individual loses sovereignty and is subject to group-think as in a democracy.]

Democracy. That form of government in which the sovereign power resides in and is exercised by the whole body of free citizens directly or indirectly through a system of representation, as distinguished from a monarchy, aristocracy, or oligarchy. [NOTE: In a pure democracy, 51% beats 49%. In other words, the minority has no rights. The minority only has those privileges granted by the dictatorship of the majority.] From here.

The separatist structures are crumbling now...its time for more wholesome and uniting bodies.

I've just managed to turn my white towels a funny pink color by washing them with my pink bikini!!!

hmmm...y'know, seeing as life is a comedy, and we're all just having fun playing our roles...then I would do the Hugh Heffner thing (mansion full of blondes)...or Donald Trump (Miss universe and marrying models) if I was a man!

I'm not sure what the equivalent of such behavior is for women...lol Owning fabulous shoes and clothes and doing charitable deeds seems to pale in comparison.

hmmm...I can dis-identify with my role and enjoy it...but how do I deal with others wanting to box me up in it?????

M: Is the stock market going to crash?
Bashar: Let me ask you a question...What is it you are actually putting stock in? I will suggest you put stock in yourself instead of some relatively arbitrarily system.....You are the only stock that will ALWAYS go up!

  • Of soya milk being healthy

Posted: October 26, 2008, 7:45 pm by gal africana
I read with amusement all the studies that advice against drinking soya milk citing a myriad of dangers which I will not repeat here as I do not give credence to them.

As far as I can see, no clinical trials have been carried out to show the manifestation of disease as a direct result of consumption of soya milk. I drink copious amounts of Soya milk, have done for a year now, and I feel better than I have in ages...obviously this is coupled with vegetarian eating so i cannot credit my well being to soya milk alone. I find it curious that there have not been the same outcry against meat products which contain ridiculous amounts of antibiotics and have the added unpleasantness of containing unhealthy cholesterol.
Most people I know who've cut out dairy and meat products from their diet enjoy immediate positive results, if they can keep up the vegetarianism, it is not for all. Why is this information not more common place...instead of the spreading of the "possible" health dangers of Soya?

As always, I urge people to listen to their bodies. If you've been eating Soya and drinking soya milk and you feel great, then question a report that warns you about the dangers of a food that poses no problem to you.

Our bodies are a veritable source of messages, telling us when something we're doing is good or bad. The "something" could be nutritional, emotional or mental. What is your body telling you? Are you letting "supposed" professionals override what your body is telling you?
  • Of my perfect mate list

Posted: October 25, 2008, 10:52 pm by gal africana
I was listening to someone say that they'd made a list of their perfect mate and he showed up! Vupti, just like that...all perfect including right color of socks.

My strategy with regards to the whole MAN thing has been...FLEE!!!!!!! and fly if possible...as well as emanate hostile vibes to keep any fast runners at bay. It's worked so far lol

However, I'm now thinking of trying this list thing... for what if it works? What FUN! I can make it impossibly complicated so anyone not matching has NO chance...thus I don't have to flee at all...

I've decided to look to the men in the media for my inspiration, so here goes:

    My perfect mate will have:

    • David Beckhams smile, charm, fabulousness, sportiness and gentle nature
    • Ashton Kutchers cuteness and playfulness
    • Chris Rocks intelligent humor
    • Goerge Cloonies crazy humor
    • Brad Pitts sexiness
    • Sean Combs style and bad boy'sness
    • Alan Shores (I know he's fictional but damn!...) Self confidence, unorthodox thinking, decisiveness and eloquence
    • Ole Henriksens joy for life and innocent nature
    • Johnny Depps *sigh* broody sexiness and wit
    • Eckhart Tolles spiritual wisdom (finally the important stuff lol)
    • Anthony Robbins energy and enthusiasm for becoming a better person
Mix that all up with lots of other things like: affectionate, allowing, great conversationalist, Living by the laws of the universe, great at and into massaging, great at tantra....and I think I'm just about sorted.

I dont even need to specify the color of socks :-)

I'm laughing over something as serious as cancer. This video might be interesting to anyone who knows someone fighting cancer at the moment. (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5528328984547372206)

I'm not indiscriminately vouching for the Hoxsey treatment, but I am hoping to inspire self awareness in the use of conventional synthetic cancer therapies, that ALL are CARCINOGENIC! (this is why I'm laughing...and these treatments cost a tooth and an ass... lol) And don't have a high success rate!

Natural cancer therapies are NOT carcinogenic, so spend time finding and trying alternative treatments.

    I want to relate
    I dont want a relation"ship"
the "ship" part feels so much like a prison
a prison sailing on deep dark waters

seems like being in a room with concrete jagged edged walls

    Have you heard you?
    Like a harp
    Wonderfully tuned
    Speaking harmony, love and joy
    Building, giving, empowering
    Entertaining better than a blockbuster
    You are
    You are

    Have you felt you?
    Soft power
    Emanating intelligent influence
    Full of soul and heart
    Like a lioness/lion

  • Of the "NEWS"

Posted: October 16, 2008, 12:25 am by gal africana
    I'm noticing...

    • I always watch the news and end up worrying about things that are happening halfway around the world...and then not doing anything about it...other than worrying that is
    • that my worrying doesn't help a silly thing...so why worry?
    • There's soooo much news on...ALL the bl**** time and its almost always bad
    • That when the news is ALWAYS bad it seems like the world is predominantly bad
    • that maybe it is not all that bad this world, for how many countries are war torn compared to the ones living in peace? and even the ones that are war torn...what percentage is ACTUALLY directly experiencing war
    • that sometimes there'll be a report of how depressed people are getting about something...and then I look around me and NO ONE is depressed....until after they watch the news and start talking about how depressed they and everyone else is
    • that sometimes they lie...blatantly in the news...*sigh* I really wish they wouldn't lie
And so I'm watching the news less and less... and when I do, I listen actively and question heartily...I will be judge of what is true news in my life.
  • The power of NOW

Posted: October 7, 2008, 12:56 am by gal africana
"Forgiveness is the choice to see people as they are now. When we are angry at people, we are angry because of something they said or did before this moment. But what people said or did is not who they are. Relationships are reborn as we let go perceptions of our brother's past. 'By bringing the past into the present, we create a future just like the past.' By letting the past go, we make room for miracles." Excerpted from "A course in miracles"
  • Of couchsurfing (free fun travel!!!)

Posted: October 5, 2008, 1:05 pm by gal africana
Couchsurfing is a traveling network where hosts with a room/a couch for travelers and travelers looking for hosts can network with each other. Most hosts offer their couches for a couple of days for free...as well as being willing to socialize and show their guests around. BRILLIANT!!!!!

I looooooove this concept! It makes traveling cheap and fun, especially for singles. I've traveled alone but let's face it...its more fun to travel when one has folks to have fun with.

I will be hosting soon enough myself! Yay!!!!
