Obama and Cairo: Could it be any worse? | The Economist
Posted: January 28, 2011, 11:43 pm by Beve
IT IS a cruel irony that Barack Obama chose Cairo as the venue for the big speech in 2009 that was designed to start to restore America's relations with the Muslim world. One of the main promises he held out there—American help for Palestinian statehood—has recently run into the sand as the result of what even his admirers admit was a sequence of cack-handed diplomatic fumbles, notably the mistake of picking a fight over Israeli settlements and then backing down. Now he will be judged, not only in Egypt but well beyond, by whose side he takes in the showdown between Hosni Mubarak and the Egyptian people.

When a coupla photographers & I took on the heights that are the KICC helipad, one of many things could happen, lots of craziness, madness and maybe crazy photography. Steve & I were going to initiate some of our friends to the KICC helipad. Shaydest, Mwarv & Davie were to be the initiatees but only Shaydest was available. I think the word ‘initiation’ scared the rest . Of course they came up with excuses like work, errands, stuff like that.

2010: Year of the black center-right | The Daily Caller - Breaking News, Opinion, Research, and Entertainment

One of the most underreported stories of 2010 is how the black center-right gained significant ground around the globe. We are aware of the historic victories of Congressmen-elect Allen West and Tim Scott, the first black Republicans to be elected from the South since Reconstruction. Florida Lieutenant Governor-elect Jennifer Carroll also had an historic year. Many political observers note the growing number of black Tea Party activists.

In the River, On the Bank: The Dilemma of the Second Generation « Clutch Magazine

When I was little, we used to play this game. We’d put a jump rope on the ground and hop from side to side as the person in charge would say, “In the river, on the bank.” The game was a great way to pass the time at any gathering of eight or more West-Indians. It seems simple enough, but after a few rounds there’d be just two or three of us left. We were the ones with quick reflexes and sharp ears.
