To Kenya Rugby Sponsors: Kenya Airways and SafaricomMichael Joseph and Titus NaikuniIt is hoped that significantly you were keenly watching the outcome ofyesterdays KRFU election. Two historical things happened and theseshould be of great worry to you both gentlemen.1. The KRFU AGM was held and for the 4th or 5th year in a row noaccounts or financial statements were passed. At the KRFU AGM held this afternoon, the clubs have given the current office a clean bill of health and allowed key members of the board to continue with their mandate. Fred Odhiambo and Frank Sabwa have won the seat of Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively. New face Henry Emuye comes in as treasurer however.Branko Nginja has retained his seat as director and Edward Rombo comes in as a new -

The same time, two years ago. Was my colleague right, or was he wrong? The choice is yours. And as we go into elections today, we must be fair and issue a balanced scorecard to the incumbents, without leaving the challengers with no chance. Posts up for election.Vice Chairman - the incumbent Fred Odhiambo faces challengers Aggrey Chabeda and Gabriel Ouko.Secretary - the incumbent Franks Sabwa -

For some reason, this year, the KRFU elections seem to be a low key affair. For a union that sends out at least 4 media releases a week, I am yet to see one concerning the AGM that is scheduled for tomorrow. Much as an AGM is for the union to highlight it's achievements and its agenda for the coming year, they at times turn to be our typical Kenyan political scenario. Last year's was one of -
Kenya Rugby Elections: Omwela keeping fingers crossed
Posted: February 21, 2010, 10:50 am by The Real KRFU
Kenya Rugby Football Union go to the polls on Wednesday 24 February. One man who is clearly awaiting the outcome of results is KRFUChairman Richard Omwela. As fate would have it two of his internalopponents vice-chairman Fred Odhiambo 'Niga' and Secretary-GeneralFrank Sabwa face stiff opposition in their bids to retain their seats. Both have never hidden their contempt for Omwela whom they consider -

IRB 7's : Kenya Rugby 7's bring value to Valentine weekend.

A weekend of true value, happiness, love and great rugby by KenyaRugby 7's. My mama could not have asked for more from Khayange, Injeraand the rest of the team. They certainly stole our hearts by finishing3rd in Las Vegas. Why 3rd? I say third because the only two teams we lost to were theones that played the finals being Samoa the champs and New Zealand AllBlacks the runnerup. Kudos to the boys -
IRB Sevens Las Vegas Wrap
Posted: February 15, 2010, 2:20 pm by ruggerbug
A good summary from the IRB Website. In all a much better performance from us. An improved use of the bench helped us to achieve this. We still remain in sixth position with 44 points, two behind a much improved Australia side and eight above defending champions South Africa. Our defense is greatly improved, however we seem to have lost some spark in our attack. We seem too predictable and -

Tense stuff, went into sudden death. Ben Nyambu atoned for his previous performance in past outings to score the decisive try. We play New Zealand in the Semis. Good use of replacements for once by the bench. -

I saw this on UR7s Twitter feed and could not resist. What more inspiration do we need in the "sin" city. Expectations are high as always, I have toned mine down a mite.. A semi final appearance is more than good enough and shows steady progression. It will give us more to look forward to in the other legs.Updates here after the matches. -

Our regular weekends are back. Kenya Cup and Eric Shirley commence and it is short and quick this time. Only one leg then semis and finals so no time for recovery.Impala host Strathmore University, KCB host Mean Machine, Quins host Nondies and Nakuru host Mwamba. My calls are Impala over Strathmore, though not by too much. KCB will pip Machine, one score the range. Quins should beat Nondies -

Is the union principle of top down development working? That is a question I have asked myself many a time. I, for one, am a believer in bottom up principles as they are all inclusive and all encompassing and leaves nothing to chance if well managed. The reverse I believe is escapist and myopic and for the faint hearted. However, I may be wrong! For over a decade now, the union has -

Wellington Rugby 7's Update: Day 1 Wrap Up
Posted: February 5, 2010, 7:42 pm by ruggerbug
Perhaps we expected too much from the lads. Perhaps they have over-trained. Perhaps they are jaded. Perhaps they are homesick. I just don't know. Our mental strength does not seem to be up to the task and we're struggling. Despite over a week at a high performance centre, we don't seem to be showing much for it. My own experience tells me we tend to relax after such an exposure. We tend -

A better more focused performance though off to a slow start again, going 0-7 down early on. Woke up and did the business. Two tries by Lavin Asego, one by Innocent Simiyu and one by Collins Injera. Kicking was a bit off once more, maybe time we got brave and used another goal kicker as Asego's hamstring seems to be interfering.Next game at about 11. -
Wellington Rugby 7's Update : Kenya 15 Tonga 7
Posted: February 5, 2010, 6:52 am by ruggerbug
A very shaky start. Went down 0-7 before recovering to win this one. We don't seem sharp at all and are very casual in our approach. Defense and goal kicking is woeful. Need to step up 5x. Try scorers Gibson Weru one and Collins Injera 2.Next game in 3 hours. -
My take on the 15's Squad Selection

Props 1. Nzioka Muema Impala -Good size, but can he get the mobility required for test level rugby? I think of Richard bands outsprinting backs from half pitch to score a great try for the springboks against the all blacks. Luckily there is lots of time to work on his fitness.2. Edwin Alubaka KCB - Does not impose himself sufficiently, does not know how to get the most from his size and strenght -

For some reason also, the goings on at the union are just too juicy, some even I don't have the guts to post. And lastly, maybe someone sniffed me out and I have somehow been compromised. It has taken me a good two weeks, just going through the blog, checking my old posts, from the first
