The day I met "Y-RIMU"

So Atlanta is known for many things, I guess Coca Cola HQ is out there, CNN HQ is also out there as well as other random interesting things. But one thing that probably goes unsaid or unnoticed about ATL is the number of Kenyans in that City in comparison to any other City Ive been to.
Its ridiculous to hear the gas station attendant talking in Kikuyu or Luhya as you pump up the gas in your car. Sure enough there is a level of comfort from knowing you can be stranded somewhere in Marrieta or Smyrna and on an average there will be a Kenyan within proximity to come to your aid. However sometimes its just plain ol scary that you bump into Kenyans more frequently than not.
During one of my recent visits to ATL I bumped into a reasonably well looking Chile. being the Mofo I am, of course I dropped some vibes here and there - we got to chatting and talking about Obama and about Kenya's state of affairs. Soon enough I asked her what her name is and how I can get a hold of her. She uttered back - Wairimu. I was like YETS (Ayebba!!, ASUSSA!!) Ngoma imeingiana. punde si punde I chomoad my mobile to weka her digits on my cellie so I can hit her up next time I am in the vicinity.
So being the mjuaji I am, I normally ask mamas for both their names. So I asked Wairimu to sambaza her full names so I can weka them on my mobile (this normally helps to avoid the embarassement of naming chiles on your phone as Suzzie Madaraka, or Jackie Tall, Jackie Westi, Jackie ATL and so forth). As soon as I started ingizaing the 404 digits on my phone, she told me her name is Wairimu and that's with a Y .. and RIMU or better yet Y dash RIMU... Seriously I fell of my seat. I didn't even have time to laugh because I was in shock. I know we live in the US and probably act or blend in with the western community... but walahi balahi.. Y-RIMU... nini hiii.. Truthfully I told the chile its okay I don't need her number. I chomokad from the conversation and just bounced. I can see how she may want to name our toi's ONE-JOHI or 1-JOHI (Wanjohi), or ONE-GARI 1-Gari (Wangari)... Shoot maybe I should change my name to Lay - O Far Yeah.. who knows but this is ridiculous shit.. Leave you name as is, unless your name is like Conjestina - for realz that whole urban vibe is whack!!!
Anyway I marked that day as the day I met Wairimu - Y-RIMU
Blah blah blah
